The term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, but politics has been observed in all human group interactions, including corporate, academic and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power" and refers to the regulation of a political unit, and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy. The word "Politics" comes from the Greek word Πολιτικά (politika) from politic (adj.), modeled on Aristotle's "affairs of state," the name of his book on governing and governments, which was rendered in English mid-15 century as Latinised "Polettiques." In Latin, this was "politicus" and in French "politique". Thus it became "politics" in Middle English (see the Concise Oxford Dictionary). HistoryFrom a historical perspective, societies in need of government have moved from the primitive to the patriarchal state and finally to the military, the real politics of modern times. The origin and development of government institutions is the most visible subject for the study of Politics and its history. From Wikipedia under the

I'd like to get an idea of the type of career I want to pursue so that I can better decide on a college. Asked by Flower - Tue Aug 11 12:53:48 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. History is not an easy path. If you want to teach the subject at any collegial level, you are looking at about 8 years of papers and presentations. Other alternatives include specializing in a discipline (museology, anthropology, archaeology, archiving, ethnology) or writing. With my BA in History, writing remains my passion yet I work for myself and must fight every day to be published. I even took a sabbatical to ponder if History was the way to go or if accounting, medicine, law would be easier (proposes a job at the end and yes, I had the grades). Finally, nothing could dissuade me or my passion for History. I learn every day and I regret nothing. Good Luck. Q. Politics today seems to consist of three steps. 1. attack 2. retreat 3. cry foul and act like an innocent victim when the retaliation happens. Is this the same tactic used by terrorists around the world, (to destroy someone to cause intimidation of another), and if so does this type of politics hurt our ability to remain the leader of the free world? We as Americans need to start looking at third party candidates who are centrist in their ideologies. The far-right and the far-left are both dangerous entities that should be avoided at all costs.
