From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Logic, from the Greek λογική (logiké) is the art and science of reasoning. There are many different conceptions of what the field of logic comprises. How these notions relate to each other can sometimes be controversial. Logic is considered by some to be the study of the general features, or form, of arguments, as is studied in the sub-disciplines of informal logic and critical thinking. Another notion is that logic is the study of logical truths and their nature. Another notion is that logic is the study of formally valid inferences and logical consequence. Still another notion is that it is the mathematical study of formal languages. It is defined by the Penguin Encyclopedia to be "The formal systematic study of the principles of valid inference and correct reasoning". As a discipline, logic dates back to Aristotle, who established its fundamental place in philosophy. It became part of the classical trivium, a fundamental part of a classical education, and is now an integral part of disciplines such as mathematics, computer science, and linguistics. Logic concerns the structure of statements and arguments, in formal systems of inference and natural language. Topics include validity, fallacies and paradoxes, reasoning using provability and arguments involving causality and time. Logic is also commonly used today in argumentation theory. Yes, yes and oh so yes...I've been using Cubase for a while now and I recently decided to try Garageband. It was amazing but the engine was inferior to cubase so I decided to try Logic Studio 8. The learning curve from Cubase is a little frustrating but you'll get used to it. The audio Engine is awesome, the closest you get to Pro Tools. Coming from Garageband should be a breeze for you as the interface is very similar but with more functionality than garageband. There are many DAW's out there to compare but the best feature of Logic is you get it all in one and it costs only $500. For the money, you can't get better than that. Q. First of all thanks for answering my question about only 2 speakers functioning with the television. I now seem to have a similar problem again with the front speakers in that when I play music and movies that are not 5.1 my rear speakers dont work. I need to select pro logic ii on my dvd player for all 4 speakers to work but that causes my front speakers to go very low. Please help. This really only works well if the media you are playing is encoded for Dolby Surround to begin with, though. Otherwise, the results can be unpredictable. It won't cause damage, but it may not sound desirable or right. If the stereo feed is actually two channel mono, for instance, all audio will go directly to the center channel as they are in perfect phase. In matrixed surround programming, dialogue is usually mixed in perfect phase (the same on both channels) so the decoder will send the dialogue to the center.
