How many of those Tea Party backed new members of congress are going to turn out to be like Scott Brown?
Q. Scott Brown was a politician that learned to talk Tea Party so instead of judging him by his liberal voting record the Tea Party judged him by his "I will vote against Obama" rhetoric. I suspect some of those nw members will be like Brown and the rest will be manipulated by the big spending Republican leadership. "some of those new members"

What is the most conservative party in the US?
Q. Like many others who feel the same way, I think we can agree the Republicans completely abandoned conservatism during the Bush years, and the current rhetoric against Obama just doesn't feel very genuine. Republicans had to shift left during the 1960s as the Democrats shifted far left to avoid being characterized as a party of racists and greedy business and every lying buzzword that other party likes to fling around. That being said, how do you like the Constitution Party?
Asked by Got rings this millennium? - Mon Jun 15 20:19:25 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depends what you want to conserve. Conserve individual rights: Libertarian Conserve white supremecy: American Nazi Conserve the environment: Green Party Conserve american isolationism: American Independent Party The Constitution Party does not conserve the intepretation of the constitution. It creates a new one. It claims to a simple plain reading and original intent, but its approach is quite novel. It is though a reactionary party that seeks to turn back developements to the pre-1960s relationship of governement and society.

I honestly do not believe these people really believe themselves what they are spewing but will it cause them to lose do you think? And how will the world see americans with people with these attitudes running a country as great as ours? Will we be laughed at and looked upon as moronic?

If McCain is celebrated for voting against his own party and called a "Maverick", isn't he voting Democratic?
Q. Factually, if McCain showcases his "ability" to "go against my own party", that would mean he supports the Democratic stances. Since his supporters support that "going against my own party" rhetoric that McCain so loves to plug to prove how much of a "Maverick" he is, aren't they essentially agreeing that Democrats are right all along? And if that's the case, then there is truly an overwhelming support for the views and stands of the Democratic Party!

Why Are Liberals Upset that a Few People Allegedly Used the "N-Word" at a Tea Party Rally?
Q. The Tea Party has about 3 million followers. Would it be unreasonable to find 1% of any group to use extreme rhetoric? If so, you'd expect to find 30,000 people using the N-word. You found 1 person and that's supposed to be dispositive of something? Now people know why "racist" and "racism" mean nothing. I've got your N-word hanging.

A. "You found 1 person" They didnt find anyone. The congressman made it up in order to demonize the tea party crowd: "We now have a very short clip of the protesters kill the bill towards Lewis as he walks towards the Capitol building, but no racial epithets can be heard.

What does the drop in the democratic parties fundraising mean for the party?
Q. Democratic political committees have seen a decline in their fundraising fortunes this year, a result of complacency among their rank-and-file donors and a de facto boycott by many of their wealthiest givers, who have been put off by the party's harsh rhetoric about big business.

A. I think Bill Clinton said it best: 'It's the economy, stupid!' Plus, considering the Democratic party set all kinds of donor campaign records in the last election, it's only natural that there be a lull during a non-election year.

Why do so many Americans get passionate about politics, and fervently spout the rhetoric of their party......?
Q. When they really don't have a clue what is going on. I am curious how many people have actually read the health care bill? I doubt that 1/16th of the people who are are pissed it won't get passed never read it to see if they actually approve it. I also doubt that 1/16th of the people who are against it have read it. So out of curiousity if you have actually read the health care bill I would like to know.

Asked by Don't call me a liberal. - Sun Jan 17 13:57:59 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you have to define "works for the people" and "support the people" in order to get any meaningful responses. Example: a conservative would say that private property, free enterprise, and low taxes lead to much superior economic growth and that this growth is the best way of increasing wages and incomes and thus supports both the people today and their children's future. Meanwhile, a liberal would say that significant portions of the US population suffer from poor schools, zero access to capital, poor or very expensive health care and that supporting the people means using the government to significantly narrow or eliminate these differences. So, what's your definition of "support the people"? And what would you do, if anything, about… [cont.]

Is the Democratic party bankrupt of any new ideas besides social oriented rhetoric from the 60's?
Q. I firmly believe that Democrats will lose in '08 unless they express views that invigorate moderates and "white guys" so left behind in their view of America, by the way, I am a liberal minded person! I also think their support of invading Iraq, then, pulling that support, will contrubute to their undoing, in the "middle" of the electorate.

A. Well, I have to disagree with you. I think it's the Republicans who are sounding stale and entrenched. Among the Democratic candidates there are some serious differences especially as it relates to the war. I think Biden and Edwards and Obama to a certain extent are expressing some very bold ideas. Hillary is playing it closer to the vest as she typically does. She is running as if she already has the nomination and she's leading and I can't blame her for that. And really if you think about what you are saying, taking a look back post WWII and looking at how dangerous the world was and looking at today, there's something to be said about taking a look at what Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Carter did on Foreign policy as it… [cont.]

Rhetoric is the art of discourse, an art that aims to improve the facility of speakers or writers who attempt to inform, persuade, or motivate particular audiences in specific situations. As a subject of formal study and a productive civic practice, rhetoric has played a central role in the Western tradition. Its best known definition comes from Aristotle, who considers it a counterpart of both logic and politics, and calls it "the faculty of observing in any given case the available means of persuasion." Rhetorics typically provide heuristics for understanding, discovering, and developing arguments for particular situations, such as Aristotle's three persuasive audience appeals, logos, pathos, and ethos. The five canons of rhetoric, which trace the traditional tasks in designing a persuasive speech, were first codified in classical Rome, invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery. Along with grammar and logic (or dialectic - see Martianus Capella), rhetoric is one of the three ancient arts of discourse.
